Message Maps / Pitching

In todays lecture we looked at employability, we looked into detail about pitching. Pitching is when a product is presented to someone or a group of people, ie. Dragons Den or The Apperentice.
We then made Message maps.

1. Do you think the pitch was successful and WHY?

No because it wasn’t very formal and the majority of them seemed unconfident and they were not organized.

2. What works well and what doesn’t in your opinion and WHY?

What worked well was the contrast of colour of the actual product, however the way they presented it was not good as it was informal

3. Is there anything you would do differently?

Interesting, confident, organized and made sure that everything was at a professional standard and not a sloppy pitch. I would make the advert very good to show the target audience

Christmas tree. Illustrator

I did this christmas tree by using the line brush tool and made a triangle, afterwards i made a new layer and used the pen tool to draw the trunk and the star. I preferred to do this illustrator as i find photoshop difficult and confusing, i do wish to use photoshop more in the future.

I stared by looking on google images and Pinterest for ideas on what to draw on our sheet of paper

When i decided what i wanted i used the Fontpair.co to get a good idea on what i wanted on the front of my card then i combined a few designs together to make my designs.

I started by thinking of what to put on the front of my card, then i experienced by using different sized stamps and stamped them three times to see what looked best.

In todays lecture we also looked at animation for ourselves

Adobe flash has a text tool, so i wrote my name and made it move down the page, then i inserted a photo of a few dollar signs and a dollar and made them move across the page, the dollar signs got bigger as they moved

The Forest

In todays lecture we looked at a short film called The Forest, it was made by David Scharf using 3D CGI animation. The story behind the film is of a 12 year old girl that lives in a small apartment with a strict father which tries to show her the actions of life. She got put into a therapist after she was expelled from school, she wakes up to the real world and retaliates, and tries to cancel all technology but fails and gets put away

The five shot method is a set series of shots for the editor to keep the attraction of the viewer.

This is used so the viewers continue watching the video because they are drawn in to see what they are doing, also when they can only see the persons hands they are drawn in to see what they look like, what they are doing and why they are doing that. 

Christmas Cards - Preliminary Photoshop Designs

In todays lecture we created preliminary designs for our christmas cards using photoshop.

We started by applying a gradient to the background, we did this by choosing the colour then using the gradient tool to create the effect, then placed a half colour gradient effect.
Afterwards we looked at filters, we chose the filter, noise and applied that to the page then turned it to around 30% - 40% to create the card effect instead of a solid boring colour.

 Once i done this i used the polygonal lasso tool to draw the triangle then coloured this triangle yellow, after that i changed the opacity of the triangle down to 50% so the ends of the triangle were faded out into the red background.










after that i installed a snowflake brush to use around and in the yellow triangle, we changed the size jitter so there was a variety of different sized snow flakes, we coloured them a lighter yellow and scattered them in and the outline of the triangle to make this.      \/   \/   \/   \/   \/   \/   \/   \/   \/   \/   \/   \/   \/   \/   \/   \/   \/   \/   \/   \/

i did the same to the white star and the plant pot and then i inserted text saying merry christmas then i put a white outline around the text. and then i was finished. this is the final product.








                                                 

Library Foley

While doing the foley for the library clip i learnt many new things about sound and equipment.
before we started to record our sound we had to go through how the equipment worked, so we learnt about male and female cables and XLR cables and shotgun microphone etc. After i was told how to use this equipment we started recording, we moved locations three times because we had interference with people come in and out and technicians. So that was also another thing i learnt that i will not repeat to save time. We recorded all of the sounds in the drama studio as it was empty and quiet. I liked this activity as i know that all the sounds used in the foley are my own and they fit in with the clip.

What i haven't enjoyed about this task was people butting into my sounds when i was recording and having to move around a lot which would waste a lot of time.

When i recorded the sounds i wanted them to sound exactly how the clip shows but obviously it s hard to do that when you haven't got the clip right in front of you, but when it come to adding the sounds to the actual clip it wasn't so bad as i was able to edit the sound and make it fit in better.

Balanced audio is very important. If you have sounds that you have recorded that clip or are way too quiet, they are no good, you need sound which doesn't clip and every sound that you record needs to be in the same range otherwise they are hard to work with or may have to redo them.

Drugs and Health

What did you read that you didn’t know before?
I looked at some statistics on the Internet on the amount of people use drugs for different reasons and I was blown away by some of the things that people do.

Does this blog post change your views? If so, how?

This blog changed my views against drug as people are using it for the sake of stress for example and when you read facts of what drugs do to you it is quite scary knowing what they do and people actually consume these things. For example marijuana is used for a anti depressant but people are in danger because some people that sell it they may insert some other substances which can be harmful.

How might the information in this post be useful to you?

This information could be useful to me to inform other people about the problems of drugs on why they are illegal etc.

What are some of the risks involved in doing drugs? Do you think about these risks? Why or why not?

The risks in taking drugs are that you can seriously injure you and even kill you and I think that to the  people know that it does hat to them it is very upsetting people have to result to it.

How does media play a role in drug use and addiction? Consider all types of media, including television and movies, social media, and advertisements
Media usually shows drug addiction a lot more than other things, for example, alcohol. For example you may see on the news of some people or celebrities using or making drugs which are in trouble with the police because of having use of illegal substances, but you mostly see it on television on soaps like Coronation street and Eastenders, they are usually class A drugs ie. cocaine. You also see use of drugs in films, usually people taking drugs or dealing drugs in either comedy or action films.

Market Research

Pinterest 

In todays lecture we were able to sign up to Pinterest, which allows us to look at other peoples ideas, crafts and other things. This is good because i searched a term christmas and found the picturea that i liked. (left picture) I liked the christmas card as it has been rafted and i like this because i like the idea of hand made and crafted products as they wil apply to my christmas card design. Pinterest has shown me various colours but i picked this colour shceme (photo on the right) as i think it really suits the christmas and i can use the colour theme and others to make my chistmas card my own and to suit my sytle of craft.

Claymations - DLD, Morph and Adam

In todays lecture we looked at three videos which were all animation. They were all made from clay. This includes characters props the the background. To make these clips they take a series of photos and put them together to make the character/prop etc move.

Darkness, Lightness, Darkness -  contained two hands in a small room. the further the progressed with making body parts the more the body parts came. for example they found a moth (ears) and grabbed the moth and tour it in half, and used them to listen, then other parts of the body came into the room like feet and a head. Eventually it made a fully grown man and he was squished in the small room and turned the light off.


Morph - Morph is about a man more like a stick man that was making jelly, he has a strange blog like pet, the pet is interested into what he is making, the man makes the jelly and leaves the jelly to set as he walked off his pet goes to see the jelly and finds out it is another one of the blob pets and the stickman come back to the jelly and tries to eat it but the jelly jumps off the table and walks away with the mans pet.


Adam -  Adam is about a boy that has been placed on the moon, he is alone and doesn't know what to do. constantly making mistakes as he is trying to get use to the habitat he has been put in by a hand (creator) when he finally realises he is getting company he is disappointed with a penguin, they hold hands and hug.

Ryan and Aiden - Claymation - Our story was of a blue blob rolling minding its own business
, when it runs into a lighter and the lighter burns it into a puddle, the puddle then shows that it is still ok from the flame. We did this using a stop-motion software and put it together and added music on pro-premiere.

Assassins Creed 3

In todays lecture we learnt what folioing is, i done this on assassins creed gameplay, we all worked on pro premiere and added sound effects to create the video.

This task was good fun also i learnt how to fade in and out clips and sound effects and how to make the fade shorter or longer.

Location scout + Recce + Risk assessments

Location scout

A location scout is a vital process in pre-production, it is used in film making and commertial photography. Once the producers and directors have decided on what they want the scene to look like they will send out a Location scout to go and find a location and inspect it to make sure it fits the producers and directors standards.

Recce

Recce is a bit like a location scout apartfrom their job is to go out to the location that the Location scout has selected and to inspect the location to make sure the location is suitible to film on and is what the producer and director would like to use.

These are both important in the filming industry as they both have to be done otherwise they will never have a plavce to film, also getting permisson and legal licences to use the property is also important with these two terms. Which also applys to televison industry.

we used these in our lecture last wednesday, we walked up to Royal Creasent and on the way there we stopped at some locations and took some photos, we had to use these techniques to make sure it was ok for us to film on and that is was suitible for our team.

Risk Assessment

We carry out Risk Assessments to highlight minor to serious dangers when it comes to going to film. so we can be aware of all the possible things that could happen for example, from tripping over a camera wire to being set on fire because you are using fire in a certain scene. we look at these so we can learn how to prevent these accidents from happening and making the set a safer place.

Explosion GIF

In todays lecture we learned how to make a gif. i started by thinking of a design, i thought of a cartoon bomb, so i drew out three and one had a long thread and the other two had shorter threads, then i also drew 3 cartoon explosions 1 small one, medium one and a large one to fit the page. i started by taking the photos and gradually putting in the photos into it, after i taken 34 photos i put them all into photoshop and started by putting them out of layers and into frames and then spaced the time out between the frames out. after i was happy i exported it as a  animated GIF. 'save for web legacy and uploaded it onto my drive.
